The OG Scoop Troop!

After moving to Asbury Park in 2014—best decision ever!—I’ve embraced the coastal community, its energy, and its endless sense of fun. A lifelong fan of good times and most sports (except basketball, haha), I’ve found pure joy in serving smiles to kids and families every day.
For more than 34 years, I built my career in sales and executive leadership roles for tech companies, but now I’m excited to turn the page to something sweeter. Joining the Avon-by-the-Sea community marks the start of a fulfilling new chapter—one centered around connection, creativity, and community spirit.
My talented team and I can’t wait to meet you! We believe in serving the BEST, so our shop is honored to sell the INFAMOUS NASTO’S ice cream. Stop by for our hand-dipped ice cream, homemade brownies and cookies, handcrafted pies and cakes, or one of our signature milkshakes—all served with a local smile. Hi! I’m Marnie, the owner of The Perfect Scoop. For the past 19 years, I’ve worked as a speech-language pathologist in local school districts, helping children build confidence and find their voices. During the school year I still work in the schools, and opening The Perfect Scoop has been a dream that lets me bring that same joy and connection into the community in a different way.

I’ve always loved ice cream, but more than that, I love the simple happiness it brings to people. After spending so many years working with children and families, I wanted to create a place where people could gather, laugh, celebrate little moments, and make memories together. My goal is for The Perfect Scoop to be more than just an ice cream shop—it’s a place where kids light up, families connect, and our community comes together.

You’ll notice penguins throughout the shop and in our logo. I chose penguins because I think they’re adorable, but also because they represent something meaningful to me—penguins choose a mate for life, which I think is a beautiful symbol of loyalty, love, and lasting connections. That sense of connection and community is exactly the feeling I hope people experience when they visit The Perfect Scoop.

I’m so excited to meet everyone in the community and watch your families grow over the years. I can’t wait for you to become part of our “Scoop Troop,” earn rewards for your favorite treats, and make The Perfect Scoop one of your family’s favorite traditions.

“Meet Jade – Official Taste Tester & Head of Operations 

Jade is a 23-year-old African Senegal Parrot and the true brains behind The Perfect Scoop. While Mommy and Daddy are busy managing the shop, Jade is at home overseeing the real work—payroll, QuickBooks, and all major business decisions.

With over two decades of experience (and zero formal training, but plenty of confidence), Jade ensures everything runs smoothly… or at least loudly.

She starts each morning with a full vocal performance to motivate her parents (whether they asked for it or not), followed by perfectly timed laughter at all the right—and sometimes wrong—moments. Jade has a very refined palate and takes her role as Official Taste Tester seriously, with a particular fondness for French fries, scrambled eggs, and anything she believes she deserves.

While she may not physically be in the shop, make no mistake—she’s in charge.

And yes… she expects a sample of everything. “
